  “I’m gonna…I’m…”

Jett delved into her dripping folds and rubbed her clit with a firm fast stroke.

Emmy’s whole body tautened, she stopped breathing, and then she screamed.

He slammed in deep, once, twice, three times, and the fourth he roared as he started to come. Her warm thick honey gushed over his dick and balls as her pussy convulsed around his cock, sucking the seed up out the tip.

Each time Jett’s cock jerked and juddered, another aftershock wracked Emmy’s body making her quake under him. He shook and shivered with orgasmic bliss as he ground his hips into her ass, wringing out every bit of pleasure he could for the both of them.

Finally, the glory waned and he panted hard as fast, trying to get his equilibrium back. When his mind started working again, he realized he was lying on top of Emmy who was pinned between him and the mattress. Jett shifted his arms and braced his upper body weight onto his elbows, which caused his cock to move inside her pussy.

She moaned and he groaned as their over-sensitive flesh slid against each other. When he blinked Emmy into focus, he couldn’t stop the smile from forming on his lips. She was shivering and shaking in the nirvanic aftermath, with her face flushed a bright pink. Her head was turned to the side with her lips parted as air sawed in and out of her lungs, but it was her lush red swollen lips that drew his attention. She looked well and truly loved. Masculine pride filled his heart. He’d put that satiated, blissful, contented look on her face.

Jett pushed an arm under her waist, tightened his hold on her, and rolled until they were both lying on their sides. His softening cock slipped from her pussy, causing them both to groan.

  “You okay, Emmy?”

She nodded and then rolled until she was facing him. She blinked and he frowned when he noticed the tears in her eyes.

  “That was…amazing, Jett.”

  “Yes, it was.”

“I feel…as if you’re a part of me.” Emmy clasped his wrist and brought his hand up to her chest and right over her heart. “Right here, in my heart.”

Jett gathered her close when her breath hitched, and a sob erupted from her mouth. Tears pooled in his eyes, and he did nothing to stop them from rolling down his face.

Emmy cried so hard he knew that there was no way Brooks and Declan wouldn’t have heard her. He tilted his head and listened as their footsteps raced down the hallway downstairs. Jett caressed Emmy’s back and gently rocked her as her tears dropped onto his shoulder. He had no doubt he looked totally sappy with a big smile on his face while crying like a baby, but he didn’t care.

The bedroom door burst open, slamming into the wall behind it, and Declan and Brooks rushed to the bed and climbed up onto the mattress.

“What the fuck did you do?” Declan shouted.

Emmy hiccupped, wiped her cheeks with the back of her hands, and glared at Declan. “He didn’t do anything.”

“Then why are you crying, darlin’?” Brooks asked.

“Because it was so beautiful. And because I love you all, so much.”

Brooks lifted Emmy into his lap and hugged her tight. He nudged her chin up until their gazes met. “I love you, too, Emmy Warren. So fucking much.”

Emmy gave Brooks a tremulous smile as more tears trickled down her cheek. “I love you, too, Brooks.”

Brooks wiped the tears from her face with his thumbs and then slanted his mouth over hers. When he released her lips, Emmy sagged against him as she gasped for breath.

“Give her to me,” Declan demanded as he held his arms out.

Emmy crawled from Brooks lap over to Declan. He scooped her up into his arms and cradled her high against his chest. “You’ve filled a dark place in my soul, Emmy. I love you, mate.”

Emmy wrapped her arms around Declan’s neck and pressed her forehead to his. “I love you, too, Declan.”

  Chapter Nineteen

Murphy couldn’t believe his luck when he saw the bitch cleaning the motel rooms, but she hadn’t been alone. He’d kept out of sight as he reconnoitered the town trying to find the perfect place to get rid of her. He’d walked for hours up and down the deserted streets of Ambrose, North Dakota, and he’d even walked a few miles out of the towns limits hoping to find his playground.

And he’d found the perfect place.

The abandoned house was more than a mile out of town on the corner of 107th St. NW and 127th St. NW. It was the perfect place for him to work, but he was also contemplating months of pent-up frustration. Murphy was going to fuck the slut before he slit her throat. He just hoped that he got the opportunity to nab her when there was no one else around because he still hadn’t worked out how to distract the men in town. He’d decided against using the explosives.

There was something strange about the men in Ambrose, but he couldn’t work out what.

Murphy sighed when his cell phone rang, and after he pulled it out of his pocket and glanced at the screen, he knew he couldn’t ignore the prissy fucker any longer. The bastard had been calling and texting him every day, but since he hadn’t anything new to tell the prick he hadn’t answered.

“What?” Murphy snarled in way of answering.

“You’ve been ignoring me and I want to know why.” The cultured voice of the congressman sent a shiver of revulsion up Murphy’s spine.

“Because I haven’t had anything new to report.”

“You may be interested to know that your two friends behind bars were murdered last week. It’d be a pity if you ended up the same way.”

“Are you threatening me?” Murphy growled his question.

  “More like warning you.”

“If I die, you’ll be the one facing terrorist and murder charges.”

“That’s highly unlikely,” the smarmy fucker replied. “The clock is ticking, soldier. If you want to see that five million dollars, find that bitch and get rid of her. You have one week.”

Murphy grinned humorlessly at the phone. The prick had hung up on him after giving him his deadline. Little did the asshole know that this wasn’t Murphy’s first rodeo. All of the correspondence between him and the politician had been documented. If anything happened to Murphy, copies of the files he’d placed in the hands of a courier company would be delivered to the Houston Police, the FBI, and the CIA. That fucker was going down if Murphy died. The courier company had instructions to hold on to the packages until he contacted them by a certain date. If he failed to check in, the packages would be sent. He might just have to forget to contact the courier.

Murphy chuckled. Once his job was done and the money had been transferred into his account, he was taking a permanent vacation on a tropical island somewhere exotic. By this time next week, he’d be lying on a tanning bed drinking beer and soaking up the sun’s rays.

He was going to make his move tomorrow, and he’d be out of the country the day after that.

Murphy rubbed his hands together with anticipation.

It was a win-win no matter which way he looked at it.

Emmy was so happy she couldn’t stop smiling. Declan, Brooks, and Jett were the loves of her life, and she couldn’t believe they loved her back.

She hummed as she served the Kodiaks sitting at the bar knocking back beers. “I missed you two yesterday.” Emmy met Broden’s and Archer’s gazes. “Where were you?”

“It was our turn to man the border,” Archer answered.

  “Where’s Airen today?”

“He’s feeling a bit out of sorts and decided to stay home,” Broden replied.

Emmy frowned with concern. “Is there anything I can do? Is he sick?”

Archer grinned. “No, sweetheart, he’s not sick. Shifters don’t get human illnesses.”

  “For real?” Emmy asked.

“For real.” Broden frowned. “Didn’t your mates tell you that?”

Emmy smiled. “They may have, but it was all so much to take in, I probably forgot.”

  “We told her,” Declan said
as he came to her end of the bar and kissed her cheek.

Emmy smiled at Declan before she glanced toward the entrance when the door opened, and the tour group entered. They were leaving today after they’d eaten lunch. Brooks and Jett hurried toward the large table set up in the back for the bunch of people. She’d spent the morning adding up the group’s expenses and printing out individual invoices. All the money had been paid except for the man in room one. It seemed he’d disappeared this morning.

Emmy hadn’t had the chance to ask about him or tell her mates, but they couldn’t let the group leave with an outstanding invoice.

“Declan, one of the men is missing from the tour, and he hasn’t paid his expenses.”

Declan frowned. “Do you have the paperwork, baby?”

“Yes. I left in on the top of the desk in the office.”

  “Is everything else paid up?”

“Yeah, only room one hasn’t paid.”

  “You have copies of everything?”

  “Always.”

Declan smiled and winked at her. “You’re a star, baby.”

Emmy snorted. “Do you want me to get the invoices and receipts?”

“Please.” Declan nodded. “I’ll go and have a chat with the leader and see if he knows anything.”

Emmy nodded and hurried toward the hallway at the other end of the bar. She stopped at the kitchen doorway to see how the Cannon brothers were fairing as they dealt with the lunch orders.

“Damn it to hell,” Jordan shouted. “You fucking burned it, you idiot.”

“Are you guys okay? Do you need help with anything?”

“We’re fine, thanks, sweetheart,” Jenson replied and then glared at Jordan. “Stop your fucking whining. It won’t take long to cook another fucking steak.”

  “Are you sure?”

Jayson nodded and waved her away.

Emmy nodded and continued toward the office. She was glad they didn’t need help. The charred smell of the burned steak wasn’t a pleasant fragrance. She’d smelled the stench from the bar area. The smell was probably through the whole pub.

Just as she was about to enter the office, she noticed the back door leading out to the parking lot and the motel was ajar. She frowned when she thought she smelled smoke, but wasn’t sure since she still had the fragrance of burned meat in her nostrils. After inhaling deeply through her nose, she knew she did smell smoke and went to investigate. The last thing her mates needed was a fire starting if something shorted out, but surely the circuit breaker would trip if something was wrong.

When she stepped outside, she couldn’t see any fire, but there was definitely smoke. She hurried toward the back end of the parking lot toward the garage. There was only a narrow pathway between the garage and the motel, so if something was on fire, they needed to put the flames out fast, so it wouldn’t spread.

Emmy frowned when she noticed the side door entrance to the garage was slightly open and that was where the smoke was coming from. She hurried forward, and after testing the metal handle to make sure it wasn’t hot, she opened the door and stepped into the gloomy building. Her vision adjusted quickly from the light outside to the darkened interior, and she gasped when she saw a lidless metal drum with flames coming out of it.

She glanced around hoping to find a fire extinguisher, but when she didn’t see one, she turned toward the door, intending to get her mates to come and help put the fire out, but she didn’t get to take more than two steps before pain exploded against and in her head.

Emmy fell to the cool concrete floor, and while she tried to keep the encroaching darkness at bay, it wasn’t possible. With a sigh, she gave into the painless relief of unconsciousness.

Murphy moved fast after knocking the slut out. Luckily for him, there were two entrances into the parking lot of the hotel/motel. After making sure no one had been about, he’d driven his truck near the back entrance to the motel and set up his diversion.

He stifled a laugh as he slung the bitch over his shoulder and, after making sure the coast was clear, carried her out to his truck. As soon as he had her lying in the back seat, he got into the driver’s seat and took off. After driving for about half a mile, which thankfully was far enough to put him well and truly clear of the towns limits, he pulled over onto the shoulder of the narrow road, climbed out of the truck, and opened the back door.

He grinned maliciously when he stared at the slut’s supine body and felt his groin tighten. He was going to have so much fun dealing with this whore, but first things first. He reached into the pocket of the back seat and pulled out a bunch of zip ties. After securing the bitch’s ankles he ducked his head and leaned further into the cab. He grasped her wrists in a hard grip just in case she came around, and then he secured them together with the tough plastic ties behind her back. Once he was sure she couldn’t break free and escape, he straightened and slammed the door closed before jogging back around to the driver’s side. That slut was going to wake up in a hell of a lot of pain. Besides hitting her hard enough on the head to knock her out, when he’d closed the door, it had hit her shin hard enough to make a sound.

I wonder if I broke her leg?

Murphy shrugged carelessly and, after checking his mirrors, took off again. He would be arriving at his destination in minutes, and she had no way of knowing where he’d brought her. That slut was going to have to rely on him for everything before he killed her.

Maybe he should keep her around and use her body until he got bored with her. He shook his head. No, he wanted to be far away from this backward hick town as fast as possible. He’d slake his lust and then slit her throat.

He slowed the truck and turned into the overgrown, pothole-riddled driveway and parked his vehicle behind the abandoned house. After pocketing his keys, he grabbed a handful of the slut’s hair and pulled her out of the truck. She was a lot heavier than he’d thought she’d be, but he was more than up to the task of carrying her inside the dilapidated house. He threw her onto the shabby sofa, grabbed the chair and set it a few yards away from the couch, and then sat down to wait for her to wake up.

Declan frowned and glanced toward the hallway. Emmy had been gone for almost ten minutes. The more time that passed the more his gut knotted up. She’d said she’d be right back, but there was still no sign of her.

He turned away from the tour guide and hurried toward the office. The hair on the back of his neck stood on end when he noticed the back-entrance door to the hotel was open, but when panicked fear bubbled up in his chest, he pushed it away. As he passed the kitchen he glanced into the room just to make sure one of the Cannon brothers hadn’t waylaid her. She wasn’t there. He inhaled deeply and wrinkled his nose as the smell of burned food assailed his nostrils. He couldn’t smell anything other than charred meat. He picked up his pace and stopped in the doorway to the office. His heart flipped in his chest when he found the room empty.

He thought he smelled smoke but he couldn’t be sure because of the stench of burned meat, but he didn’t like the feeling of dread in his gut. Was that smoke he could smell? He wasn’t sure but he wasn’t about to leave anything to chance. Declan sprinted out the back door and followed faint scent of smoke.

Emmy’s scent was strong but beginning to fade, but that wasn’t the only odor he smelled. The familiar scent of a man mixed in with the smell of smoke, sent fear permeating to his heart and soul. “Emmy’s missing. Get out here, now! Bring a fire extinguisher.” Although Declan had wanted to roar his order, he kept his voice low. The last thing he needed was the tourists hearing the animalistic tones in his voice.

He followed the scent of the smoke, and when he saw and smelled the metallic aroma of Emmy’s blood, he couldn’t contain his terror and fury. His polar bear was so close to the surface, his fingertips tingled and fur sprouted and receded over his arms. His shout of fury and terror for his mate echoed off the metal garage walls.

  “What the fuck?” Jordan yelled
as he burst into the dimly lit room, his brothers hot on his heels. Jordan ran toward the fiery barrel and aimed the extinguisher at the flames.

Brooks and Jett entered a scant second later.

“What’s…is that Emmy’s blood?” Brooks asked in a hoarse voice.

Declan nodded and shoved his way passed his friends and out of the smoky garage. The acrid stench of smoke was messing with his sense of smell, and he knew he needed help.

He closed his eyes, pictured the face of every single shifter in the town, and sent out the call for help. “Emmy’s missing. One of the men in the tour group has taken her. The bastard set a barrel of paper and rubber on fire, and the smell has fucked up my senses. I need help to find and rescue my mate.”

Snarls, roars, and growls filled Declan’s head, and while no one responded, they didn’t have to. He knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that every shifter available would do everything they could to help him, Brooks, and Jett get their woman back.

Declan just hoped they weren’t too late.

  * * * *

Brooks had never felt so terrified or useless in his life. He and his friends had tracked Emmy’s scent to the back of the parking lot, but then it just vanished. Tatum, the informal king of Ambrose, and his brothers were the first shifters on the scene.

Brooks was glad when the lion shifters didn’t start peppering them with questions, because he wasn’t sure he’d be able to open his mouth without shouting out his dread and anger. He watched Tatum as he sniffed the air and stopped beside Brooks. Jett was pacing back and forth and fighting his polar bear the same as he and Declan were, but as soon as they had a direction, they’d be off.

Zayn, Karter, and Jace Strike, the wolf shifters, were next to arrive, and Zayn immediately began to remove his clothes. Rex, one of Tatum’s brothers, stripped down, too, and then the men shifted into their animals. As soon as they had the trail, they took off running.
